Water softeners are used to eliminate limescale from water, either on the incoming main, or on the cold feed t an appliance. The 2000 range includes 5 models of water softener suitable for installation in the home. The choice of unit is dependent on the hardness of the water and the amount of water used. Water softeners need to be regenerated periodically. This means the unit needs to be installed alongside a drain similar to that used with a washing machine. Water treated by the water softener will contain higher than average levels of sodium (salt) and it is therefore recommended that at lest one drinking water tap in the house is left untreated. The water softener uses sodium(salt) during its back washing program. This means that the brine cabinet will need to be topped up with salt periodically. As a general rule, the softener will use approximately 25kg of salt every 6 to 8 weeks depending on the harness of the water and the amount of water used. |
